ok the oscar is looking terrible in my quarantine tank!! its only a 5.5 and he is sharing it with an id shark should i put him back in? but that risks all of my other fish!!?!?
holy wow sounds like things are crazy there. i have used wardley's ickaway and it worked in just 3 days and i did not take my fish out of the tank. but you will have to change any filters to that would be a good thing.
Beware, the copper will leach your tank, and kill any bio you have in the tank which is probably the cause of the ich in the first place. Clean your tank!!!
You do not have to go over something as drastic as copper sulfate. Salt itself is sufficient enough. Why people have to go over drastic measures for a curable disease is beyond my understanding.
You really need to do *something to get the Oscar out of that 5 g tank, that's way too small and unstable for an Oscar. Feeders will bring in ich, your blog says you feed feeders? I'd stop NOW. If you want to do it right and solve the problem get a bigger tank for quarrantine & use salt/heat. (But not in a 5 gal tank).
YOu could put a UV sterilizer on your tank. This will kill the ich and prevent it from happening again. Especially if the tank is fairly big. A lot easier than treating for diseases when they arise. Prevention is better than treatment!!!
