Hey guys, I am planning to get a new 360 litre (95 US gallon) tank in a year or two. I am planning to make a south/central american cichlid tank with some dither fish and a few catfish such as the striped raphael and a few corys for substrate cleanup. For the cichlids I want only small to medium sized cichlids for the inhabitants. Could you guys give me any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd say wait for a year or two until you get the tank to start making a stock list. With that long of time before purchase your personal preference in fish could change.

Ahhh ok... true, but I still want some options for me to think about before I decide on the final list. I asked a few of my facebook friends that keeps cichlids and I read a few books about it as well and I admit I am stumped at the variety of what I want. Thats why I am asking for ideas here.

Have you kept any other cichlids? You have much to choose from.start with books, online searches.I prefer to keep SA with SA,CA with....africans with....etc. some people mix fish but that I feel is too much work, plus stress for the fish, water needs, feeding needs and so on.do you want a community? Try to get all males or females.some good fish to search:blue acara, severums, keyholes, panamensis,HRP,firemouths,JD

Well for Texas means one large fish right? I am thinking of getting some of these fish...

Severum
Firemouth
German and/or Bolivian Ram
Festivum
Blue Acara
Laetacara (Dwarf Flag Cichlid) and maybe some of the peaceful members of the acara family
T-Bar Cichlid
Rainbow CIchlid
Eartheaters from the Geophagus and Satanoperca family. And what exactly are HRP?

For Dither Fish I was thinking of getting Dwarf or Boeseman's Rainbowfish and/or a few tetras.

For bottom feeders, I am thinking maybe a few small catfishes such as cories and/or maybe a striped raphael cat. Any ideas or suggestions?

In my 90 I currently have:

Juvenile Oscar
2 female Jack Dempseys
2 Electric Blue Dempseys
Green Texas
Red Shoulder Severum
2 Irwini Catfish
4 Silver Dollar Tetras

Ahhhh ok... but isn't it crowded bro Maloney... not to mention the aggresion that might result in having too many aggresive cichlids in there?
