I have been doing some major research with most of it being here. But I still need some advice and help. The outside frame is going to be made with angle iron, and plywood mounted inside that frame. Then I was going to put acrylic inside the plywood ( prob 3/8" thick). But my problem comes to the front that is going to be the window and the lid. I am at a total loss here and would like some help. Looking for advise on how to make this work. Also what are you guys painting or using to make the walls black?
I think you are going to need thicker acrylic for the front. I have an acrylic 8 x 2 x 30" high.. It's made out of 1" acrylic and still bows a little.
You are making your tank 4' high.. that's a tremendous amount of extra pressure. I don't think 3/8" will work. If it was me, I'd call a few acrylic tank manufacturers and pretend you are getting a custom build quote and ask them the thickness.. I don't even want to try to give a recommendation, as I am not qualified..
Ok after talking to a friend this idea is back on. Paulw the 3/8" acrylic is going to be the liner inside the 3/4" plywood. I will try to update the first post this weekend after we draw it up.

Ok.. got you.. That's how I would do it (if I ever had the time or guts..)
I really like the idea of lining the walls with plexiglass. Seems a lot more full proof.
