950 Plywood/Acrylic Build on Wheels!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm thinking it leaked, which is quite common actually. I would like to hear from Frank about the project though

Yes, the liner leaked. I got it another 5 inches up. Left for work and came home to a nice little puddle. I'm thinking it wasn't a good idea to cut the liner and glue/tape it to try and get a "flush looking liner" in there. It was my first time using a liner and it was cheap so we're not giving up yet. It leaked in the bottom right side of the tank, gunna drain it completely and dry it. I'm going to jump in there and see if I missed something.

My parents have a pool with a liner... It's leaked a few times over the years. I think my dad was able to patch the first one a couple times. Got 15 or so years out of it before replacing it completely.

Don't give up - a leaking liner is a very minor set back. Frustrating to be sure, but not the end of the world.

The problem is going to be finding the leak. It may have manifested itself on the right hand side - but that doesn't mean that's where the leak is. Be sure to check everywhere that you cut & patched.

There are methods to fold liners to achieve the flush look. Basically, all edges should be above water level. Only drains and window cutouts require some form of leak protection (usually mechanical clamping with flanges and/or bolts).
Koi forums and a few above ground pond builds on MFK has good info. Even Neo had a thread years ago on a liner build.
Hope you find the leak. Just be aware that the water pressure will pull the liner down as you fill. So more leaks may develop. Final tacking of the top edge of the liner is usually done with the tank 2/3 full. Bulkheads already installed maybe an issue.
