A quick reminder. My 8Ft. Acr. busted a seam a little while ago. Since, the only remidy I had was to cram both Armatus into a 75G. They are 12" one being a little thicker than the other. They were never housed together before (one stayed in the 75Gal. for a bit. I tried using a glass divider but they seemed to want to kill each other, so I put a solid color divider in place. My new "glass" tank will be ready in about 2 week, probably less. I would really like to house both together and just want to get your guys opinion on this. I am assuming if they are released together in a new tank they will not immediately go at it. Then I can kind of do some close watching to see if everything will be ok. I have seen people house more than one Armatus together in larger tanks. So I want to give this a try. Please post any concerns or thoughts so I don't injure/kill one or both of my little babies.....................Sorry if this thread is choppy. In a rush as always.....

Good luck. Anyone that I have seen with multiple Armatus in the same tank do it in BIG tanks. Not only that but they are raised together.

All you can do is try it and watch carefully, AFTER you have a good backup plan.

I highly doubt it will work sorry to say it sounds like they hate each other all ready if they try to kill each other threw the glass divider

Also the biggest piece of advice i can give you is the 2 is a HORRIBLE number when trying to keep more then one aggressive fish together it makes it very eazy for them to single each other out and fight i'd say the only way it will work is if you get a group of armatus at least 3

Note: just giveing my general knowledge i have no personal experience with armatus

Well, I could agree with the 2 being a problem. The only tank I have seen had 2 so I thought it might be possible. The backup is to just stick the one back in the 75 :( ..........
I know they were not raised together but I was just assuming if they start out in neutral territory that they may get along ?? Wishful thinking.
I think the biggest problem is one bite could be the end for one. I know they are obviously bigger than their "feeders" but I have seen too many times that one bite just out of territory or reflex has killed some pretty damn big shiners (shanked lol) they swim away with a large puncture wound to die within the next few minutes.
Do you think they will bite to kill or just to say get the hell away from me???
I now have the divider out and all seems cool for now......anyway anyone else care to offer an opinion??

How big is the tank you have coming?

Title says 8 by 2.5 by 2 (300 gallon)

;)

Actually I mad a mistake 96X30X30 sorry.....not that that makes any difference with 6" more heigth...
Hmmm there might be a large Armatus for sale if I can't figure something out... I don't think it is right to keep one in a 75. I have an empty 180 but I am not sure if I want to house 2 seperate armatus when there are som many more things to get. Actually I have about 4 different things in libe for the 180 as it is :(

In a 300, I honestly would not try it. Maybe if you had 5-7 of them to spread aggression out. jmo Keep us posted! gl
