Eh, Jed. They grow fairly slow. I have at least a year till they're 12", and by then I'll have that pond up.

I have C. myersi as well, these umbies would be a snack for him. ;)

My myersi great freaking fast for me, wonder if the umbies would have as fast of a growth rate as well. Post some pictures of them myersi, I am going through withdrawls since I sold mine....:(.

My myersi grew fast as well. From about an inch in May to about 6" now. I've read of umbie being quite slow growing. Who knows, we'll see.

I don't have any updated shots, this is from a month ago or so. He's much more orange and gold in the body.

Gorgeous!!! They are just amazing fish. I need to get me about five more of them definately, probably one of the coolest SA cichlids that are hard to find! Thankz for the picture, its like a stab at my heart, but I still love it!

I'll see about some updated shots tonight maybe. He's got a effed up spot on his face from ramming some eggcrate while in a hospital tank. Their jaws are delicate. And his fins are growing back from a beating from my argentea.

Oh...and total derail.

Umbies it's a toss up.. some grow fast and some grow a bit slower.. either way got a good year or so til 12" like he said.

Watch for aggression against each other, you'll probably have to seperate them at some point still while they're adolescents(which you know I'm sure)

Great pickups!

Yeah, I'm still really upset I had to back out on them with that trip. Ken said it was the best he's been on.
