There have been a few MFK BBQ threads in the past, but I thought it was time for a new one! :headbang2

I have been using charcoal/wood only for the past twelve years or so. However yesterday I bought a barbecue that is making me rethink things:

It is a Traeger wood-pellet grill. It uses an electronically controlled "firebox" that feeds all-natural wood-pellets through an auger. There is a blower and a glowplug that starts it and then shuts off. This thing kicks butt! My mom has had one for a few years and after trying some chicken I made on it my wife sent me off to buy one. Yeterday I made shrimp skewers and chicken thighs, today I'm going to barbecue up pig of some sort.

I will still be using my weber for fast/hot grilling of steaks and burgers, but the Traeger is definitely my new favorite.

So post up what you're barbecuing/grilling and what you're cooking on! Pics are even better.

Oh yeah... Wheres the Tri-Tip Bacon wraps people?!?!!

My family is cuban and uses a cement pit very similar to that with a rack to lay a full pig on for Christmas Eve. It cooks on there for about 12 hours, slow cooked, and is really tender when ready

That's a creative method for lighting the chimney starter. When I'm in a hurry I usually light it as directed and blast the top coals with a torch, cuts heating time by 2/3.

we buy a £1 disposable one and sit in the rain eating burnt sausage - good old british summer

Definitely subscribing to this thread, I love barbecue  and am looking forward to seeing what people use

I bet that's some delicious pork....Reminds me of a Hawaiian technique where a pig is buried in a pit in the groun. It is wrapped in banana leaves and layed over hot coals to roast overnight.
