a couple more fish to sex

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They both look like males to me. I guess time will tell weather I'm right or not. Mature males usually have a small pointed protrusion sticking out that looks like, for want of a better discription the tip of a pencil point visable when veiwed from the side. These guys can breed at a relativly small size so you should be able to notice it although it might be more visable in the dominant male. Maybe some of the members more experianced with this species will jump in here with an opinion.

as far as size goes...the top fish is about 10" long or so and the smaller bottom fish is about 4" or so best guestimate. I'm not sure how to tell if one is dominant or not because all the fish in the tank have been peaceful towards each other considering their types and tank size...

The two top fish that you say are the same don't look the same, looks like something coming out of it in the first pic so. I would say fish 1 is male fish 2 is female

Males look like ---> oo
Females looks like ---> oO

^ it's pooping, thats whats coming out

1# and #2 (arnold) is female, #3 (blake) is male

yeah, arnold pooped....i took the second picture so I would get one without the waste but the one where it was pooping ended up being clearer so I put both. and if arnold is female then I gotta change her name, haha. and...would it be possible for the two to pair up then if i have one of each? because the female is a gagillion times the size of the male at the moment. or would the male have to get considerably bigger? Also...if they did pair up, are synspilum super aggressive breeders to where they would kill off the rest of my fish?
