Nobody said it is wrong. TGM just thinks its pointless. And btw, I wont stuck my hand all the way down. Pardon if i didn't mention. My way of handfeeding was just take the krill and dip half of it in the surface. My hands didn't even contact with the water. Just don't want stuffs on my hand to contaminate it.
I've always used earthworms to get things started. Worked with my knife and bichirs.
Not pointless at all, it makes target feeding much easier if you have different routines for the fish. My knife is the tank coward, but I feed him at one end of the tank while the more vigorous eaters are eating at the other.
Plus, as it's been noted, it's a bonding experience with your fish. It does require a lot of patience to get started. Except with oscars, lol.
hand feeding is pretty easy if ur poly has a big appetite and if it has warmed up on you. The thing is, any specis of polys are technically blind (or close to blind) so they use their awesome smelling senses. Just keep ur hand perfectly still and to the bottom of ur tank when hand feeding. OH yeah.... also PATIENCE.
I will try and get a picture of the bumps, may be a while because she likes to get her face close to the glass wherever the phone is at lol
I will be patient, because I consider her MY pet, not a thing to sit in the tank and look pretty, I think feeding her by hand will make me pay more attention and notice anything unusual and whatnot faster than just plopping tilapia and pellets into the tank.
