those guys come from someplace very flat and muddy, no rocks, ive bought a few of them, be warned they will wiggle between a tight space and die, there gills are on the widest part of there head, when they wiggle in they suphocate. first one i thought was a freak accident, ive had it happen to like 3 or 4 throught the years, they not to smart and cant get out of traps

There not that ugly. Just misunderstood.
 
They can be kept in anything from fresh to full salt but do best in lightly brackish like mollies. Even as little as 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons will help. Without it they tend to get fungus and bacterial problems. Feeding them is sometimes a problem as they are not usually aggresive feeders but a small section of sand or fine gravel that is used as a feeding station for it as you turn off the lights for the night will help. Use dieing brine shrimp, tubifex or blackworms, and believe it or not, filter sludge and they will scoop up mouthfuls of the substrate and sift out the goodies.
