So... I was at Lowes the other day and came across this LED setup... Low Voltage and the lights are completely sealed in tubes with plenty of wire to place the 4 - 7 inches units anywhere.. I thought that I would try it out on my new 180 while I wait for it to cycle... It is a great night light... The unit comes with 14 different settings and was only 49.00 You can add larger 15 inch units

My tank is acrylic and has a built in top.. so I attached them to the top as in the photos above, but being low voltage, one could attach them most anywhere. The manual says that they were designed for back lighting a large television, but this is so much better!
Not bad for someone who wants to add a bit of LED on the cheaper side.. It is really pretty cool... here are some photos of the tank lighted with just the LEDs - as I am still waiting for the hood. The photos are a bit cloudy... that is new water does....

I purchased the unit at Lowes in Maine. The web site for the company that made it is www.cyron.com The product number is HT904E
Well worth looking into.
Cheers,
Wayne
