Just guessing here but maybe heat, intensity, PAR rating...that kind of stuff. Although, if I'm not mistaken, that stuff only matters on a reef tank. (I know nothing of freshwater, lol) There's also aesthetics...

I have tried this but with led colors changing lights from Ikea cost $29.99 for a 30in strip.works great.
