A few new pics from the green terror tank.

Looking good, where did you get your fish from they look better quality than the normal lfs ones about.

I got them from a small aquatic shop in a garden centre in Bromsgrove, near Birmingham.
Apparently they were bred from f1 parents.I have no proof of this. However they were far better quality than any others I had seen and I had been on the look out for some time.
Glad you like them.thanks.

do you have any problems when they breed, as in the other females getting picked on

None at all.The tank is 7x2x2 and I have 1 male and 5 females. the females will have the odd squabble but nothing ever comes of it.The male is pretty laid back.He will chase intruders away from a spawn but never gets very aggressive.

I could never get bored seeing pics of this tank. A couple of your females appear to have a little bit of white in the dorsal fins the same as my larger female. Have often wondered if there is a reason it happens to some fem fish. Have you ever saved any fry and raised them to see how they come out?

Hi and Thanks for the comments on the tank.
All my females show the white dorsal markings.
It starts at the very beginning of the dorsal and runs all the way along to where the dorsal steeply rises. The higher rear end of the fin is all gold.
I have raised a few fry in the past but only to around 50mm.I have always moved them on at that size. Someone I know had some off me and they are around 3 inches now and look just like the parents apparently, but I have not seen them yet.

Yep that's almost exactly the same with my large females dorsal but her orange starts a little bit before the higher part about 3 quarters of the way along the dorsal rays. Unfortunately I got her at the size she is now so unsure whether it's always been like that. Whereas my smaller female who is roughly half the size has the full orange blaze which has got me wondering if it is going to stay orange. The smaller fem and the male are related but from different spawns, unsure if the large female is related though. Dare say she's quite a bit older than the smaller pair.

Actually most of her dorsal is white with a couple of almost orange ones here and there(this pic of her is few months old when I first got her and had just recovered from terrible ammonia poisoning) her tank ATM hasn't got a light so haven't been able to get a good pic of her in a while. Makes me wonder if she's had some white saum mixed in somewhere along the line. What do you think? Your females are only other ones I've seen like this recently. Either way your fish are absolutely stunning. Would love to see a video one day lol.

I have tried to upload videos but it seems to take forever to upload.Maybe I am doing something wrong?
To be perfectly honest I hadn't even noticed the white tips on the dorsal fins until you mentioned it.I wonder if it's a kind of mating dress for mature females that are ready to spawn?Their cheeks turn kind of white when they are spawning. Or maybe it a regional variants thing ie Rio Tumbes or Rio Esmereldas etc.To be honest I don't know
