i haven't tried on my bichirs yet. I guess i'll start.

if u do put them n hot water 1st 2 kill them or at least slo them down jus a couple min dnt let them get mushy if u dnt they may go n2 ur gravel and die or if u dnt feed live food polys may not eat them live cuz of the struggle they put up

Lots of green on that one, looks very nice.

Interesting about using the hot water on the worms...I'd run into the same issue of some of my bichirs not wanting to eat the worms because they were still alive...I'll try it your way.
