It may shorten their overall possible lifespan because they don't go through the cold winters that slow their metabolism, but on the other hand they probably have a better chance of surviving longer in captivity since they're essentially fish food in the wild.
They are also predated by raccoons, possums, and other predators.

Either way, the max of most crawfish is about 2 years.
