for better pictures, try not using the flash, the flash washes out the colors on the fish, makes their eyes glow, and creates reflection in the glass. if the pictures are too dark without the flash, try getting more light over the tank, even if they are just temporary lights to use while taking pictures.
 
yeah do the thing with lights above the tank and I've never used photoshop to get rid of red eye. My camera has a feature that does it itself. You'll want a fast shutter speed, and I'm not sure how this would work, but even shining lights through the sides of the tank might work. the way I do it is take tons of pictures from different angles and distances with different lighting options and see which ones turn out the best.

I killed the light levels to stop algae :)

The LED bars were a lot brighter when I first got them and they seem to get weaker very day.

80000 hours isn't all that long :nilly:
