Some of these questions may seem dumb, but please bear with me...

What is the differance between aquarium plant fertalizer and pond plant fertalizer?

If I'm wanting to grow low to moderate light plants in a 100 gal tank, will two 4 ft grow lights work? Or will I need more lighting?

In one of your stickies, you mention malayasian trumpet snails are good for stirring up the gravel and releasing gas pockets. But, I've also heard at other sources that they eat plant roots. Have you heard of this, and how can you tell you have MTS or someother type of snail?

The reason I ask these, is that I live in a small town, (no pet shops) and the closest place to get supplies is forty five minutes away, or Wal-Mart.

Thank you in advance for any help.......

Typically, it's the specific concentrations of the nutrients in them. Check the labeling on the boxes/bags.
You can get rather cheap fertilizer here:

Depends on what type of bulbs these are... T12, T8, T5 - let us know
Also depends on how deep your tank is... - let us know

I've not personally heard of this. The MTS are more than welcome in all of my tanks. Do a google photo search for these, and you'll see the distinctive cone shape that they have. I've seen a couple different color varieties, but all in all, the shape is the same.

Sorry about the miss-spelling on your screen name..........

Ok, 1)the tank is 25" tall and 18" wide
2) The lights are GE Plant and aquarium ecolux, F40PL/AQ-ECO, wide spectrum 40w (I don't know how much of that label you need)
3) I can get PondCare Aquatic plant food tabs (10-12-8) its made by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. Do you need the break down on them?
4) Anything I forgot?

whats the wattage on the bulbs u are using

The dual 48's should work ok for the moderate lighting. As far as the fert goes, it is a little on the high side, but can still be used.

Thanks to all of you for all the imput, just one more question for wyldfire...

Is Downoi a highlight or low light plant, and does it require co2?

Beautiful tank by the way....
