A few questions for Wildfya

So if I bump up the lighting to four 48" bulbs (of the same kind) could I provide enough light for them? Or am I just wasteing my time as well as everyone elses?

Decided not to use those ferts, they have water soluble copper in them, I heard not to use copper in tanks with shrimp.
 
What size tank is this? The T12s aren't going to be bright enough. You will need far better lighting in order to grow the downoi. I'd recommend getting the new Hagen HO T5 lights.
 
You would need far more than 4 T12s to grow downoi in that tank. You won't quite have enough room on the top of the tank for that many T12s.
 
Oh well, its still a neat little plant.

So until I can find/afford better lighting I should stick to the plants with lower light requirements..........
