Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
Thinking about starting up a saltwater tank again. Gonna start with a 10 gallon and then upgrade to a 20 gallon shortly after.

1. All I want is 1 false percula clown, will it be fine in a 10 gallon. I want to get one slightly bigger than an inch.

2. The tanks already cycled for freshwater, can I use that bacteria for salt or am I gonna have to start over?

Your bacteria is no good. You need to start new. I would clean everything off pretty good.

Really no reason to cramp your clown in a 10g, esp if you are planning on upgrading soon anyways. Just get a 20g now, and start it up. Good luck

I agree with Fleshy, go straight with the 20 gallon from the start, from what I've learned as the tank gets bigger, the water parameters are easier to maintain. When looking into the sand, go with dry sand, as live sand is pointless and more expensive. With the live rock a fluorescent is fine, no special light is required.
Good luck, hope to see pictures

aragonite sand, not play sand or pfs or w.e else u use in freshwater

its usually like $6.49 for 10 lbs

personaly i dont think a 10g is cramped for a clown in any way actualy you could do 2 clowns i think from my experience that clowns do better in pairs than on their own
i have 2 clowns in a 28 litre fluval edge their doing great
heres a link to my nano marine aquariums

I think you COULD too, but its your obligation as a fishkeeper to keep your animals as happy as you possibly can. Bigger is always better, to a certain point. If he/she is planning on upgrading soon then they might as well do it right off the bat.

Dry aragonite sand is also what I recommend. I usually recommend reef grade aragonite by caribsea.

www.liveaquaria.com is a source of some good LR, my only real rule is that you stay away from the FL farmed stuff...just not even in the same league as the tongan or figi stuff.

Even if I could fit 2 I only want one. I heard they are territorial and I keep cichlids so I know what that entails.

We went to Petco to get some vitamin stuff and I noticed they had mollies in with clowns. Never have I seen a store keep them in the marine section. I know you can, just have never seen it in practice.

i do agree on giving the fish as much room as pos and if yur def going to upgrade its going to be beter to do it now basicaly start with the 20g insted of the 10g if you plan on upgrading

but its not thinking of the fish keeping 1 clown thats cruel in my eyes any way they are terraptorial but get on great when in pairs terratorial doesnt mean you cant keep a pair it means you cant keep them in groups even thou i have kept them in groups as long as the aquarium is big eought
a clown would be lost in a 20g on its own
