I'm hoping it's not a Flowerhorn. If it is I will try to trade it for something else. Flowerhorns won't blend with the stock that I'm building. But it's all a guessing game at this point. I figured that I will have to wait a few more months to have a better idea of what it may be. This is only the second time that I have ever seen it display bars like this. The first time was when it was taken out of my friend's tank, the second was today in front of the camera. He is usually yellow-grey with the tail fin going from yellow to a faint red. The dorsal has blue and red colors. He's colored up quickly since I've had him.

Looks like my Bifaciatus juvi

(sorry for bad pics, hard to get a pic of him/her because my male texas is always beating on it)

This is a little over a month of growth. He is almost 4"! I still don't know what it is though. My cell phone is terrible at taking pics and my wife is out with the camera. This was the best that I could do. His aggression has definitely jumped up in the last week. You can't tell from the pics but he has a lot of red in his tail fin. The dorsal fin is yellow with black spots. His other fins are blue. But when he gets mad at a tankmate his tail turns very red and then he shows dark vertical bars.

I have played this guessing game with this fish for weeks. I can't narrow it down to any two Vieja. So Mark, you think BB. That would be interesting to see. He develops more colors every week. I'll post better pics next month. Camera Flash looks terrible.

That's a lot of growth! Curious to know what it looks like eventually. Keep us posted :)
He has a hearty appetite. At this rate he should be at least 6" by the end of next month.
