no spoilers? I think she hinted something

but I don't really care, it's kind of predictable. I already have my guesses and i'm sure i'm not alone

She claims she doesn't know and they wouldn't trust her with the info. George RR has been pretty darn direct about it though lol. I've been reading more online now that everything is caught up. There's no real spoilers. Only speculation now. It's been fun. Especially guessing who will ride the other 2 dragons

Yeah, i'm still debating whether or not i want to start reading the books...
You really want to read the books. As far as the episodes go, they are very good, but the books are outstanding! G.R.R.M. is a genius.

I thought the 5th season was weird, honestly, I can't wrap my head around weather I like it or not.
Hardhome and Mother of mercy were my favorite ep. this season.

Martin is hoping he will have the new book ready before the next season starts, he's taken forever to write this one.

Very hard not to explain some of the cliffhangers, but... no spoilers.

Another question, who are these Dragonlords of Valyria that Rob referred to?

The Dragonlords of Valyria were the rulers of the Freehold of Valyria, the most powerful post-Long Night civilization the (known) world has ever seen, with their only real peers being Yi Ti in a VERY distant second. The Iron Throne and it's domains are child's play compared to the Freehold. Literally. Aegon Targaryen, a son of the Freehold, conquered the Seven Kingdoms essentially out of boredom. The Freehold was ruled by democratic process via the votes of all Free Landholders in Valyria proper (not the vast expanses of the Freehold's empire). The most powerful of these Free Landholders were the Dragonlords. The Dragonlords were 40 families of great wealth and incredibly powerful sorcery who had the means to control dragons. They were the de-facto rulers of the Freehold, even if a free man with ten acres in Valyria proper still had a 'vote'. Chief among equals, if you will.

It is an important thing to remember that the Targaryens were the weakest of the 40 Dragonlord families, by a wide margin (important point #1...).

The Freehold was destroyed in what was called the Doom of Valyria. It was a cataclysmic event that literally shattered the Valyrian peninsula. The events described in the books and the show closely match the eruption of a mega-volcanic caldera's eruption; Valyria itself was built inside of a ring of fourteen volcanos, which makes it sould like they were smack in the center of the caldera. The Freehold was a slave culture who had a constantly expanding empire to capture more and more slaves, literally entire civilizations were genocided, to work to death in the mines of the Fourteen Flames. Millions upon millions of people were worked to death, burned alive and fed to dragons in those mines. Think the atrocities of the Nazi concentration camps and the Soviet gulag, but over the entire course of a 5,000 year old civilization.

Now WHY they were destroyed is a manner of some conjecture, and no one knows for sure. What is known however, is that the Targaryens are the only Valyrians to escape the Doom. Twelve years before the Doom, a Targaryen girl named Daenys the Dreamer prophesized the Doom. She convinced her father of the truth of her prophecy, and he sold all of his LAND in Valyria proper (which by all means should have made them FABULOUSLY wealthy; important point #2), picked up his family, his household and his five dragons and moved them all to Dragonstone.

Now, one must wonder why the Targaryens, who SOLD their land in Valyria, didn't appear to be incredibly wealthy. Where did the money go?

Consider again the mines of the Fourteen Flames. A terrible place, where people prayed for the sweet release of death. A place that gave rise to the Many Faced God. What assassin's guild serves the Many Faced God? What assassin's guild is known for being outrageously expensive? Indeed, what assassin's guild started in the very mines of the Fourteen Flames to avenge the mistreatment of slaves? (important point #3...).

Indeed, after the Doom, what family became the most powerful family on Planetos? Who were the only remaining Dragonlords (even if they didn't have much gold left)? (Important point #4)

I'll let you all draw your own conclusions lol

btw, where was all the unsullied and second sons at the end there? there seems to be only a little over a dozen when the assassination attempt began. and i don't recall seeing any of the second sons. where's her army when she needs them?

The way that was shown in the show is entirely different than the book. Honestly, I chalked it up to crappy writing.

How about the fitting pit krich? Lil Spartacus action going. For some reason I imagined the fighting pits being completely different. More like when Spartacus fought in the underworld then Ancient Rome. I like when that guy got beheaded on like a baseball swing haha

This was Daznak's Pit. It is the Roman Coliseum of what is left of the Ghiscari (the peoples conquered by Valyria whose culture the Meereenes, Astopori and Yunkai are the inheritors of), it is the largest and greatest of the fighting pits in their culture.

Did Danny summon the dragon to come and rescue her or did it come on its own?

In the books, he came on his own, he smelled lots and lots of blood and was looking for an easy meal. I got the impression in the show that Dany called him.

It wad good to see the big woman exact her revenge on stupid Stannis.I kind of liked his character until he sacraficed his daughter.

Unless we see them die, you can't be sure. :p

(Though I think Brienne would do it!)

I forgot where but it was some site I came across that I saw a hint that Snow might not be dead, the Mountain seems to have been brought back by that old maester....I almost forgot about Brann this season....looks kike Danny was surrounded by a tribe of Dothraki.....yep,lots of loose ends to address next season.

Honestly, I am confident that Jon Snow will be back. I'd go into details as to why, and why I think that its critically important that he does, but that WOULD be spoilers.

Interesting.Rob you are very well versed in the GOT world. One day I will try to read the books again.

ASOIAF has hooked me as a fan in a way that nothing else in my life has ever succeeded in doing before. The main thing that's hooked me is the way GRRM has built his world. He's gone out of his way to hide clues within clues within clues and has made an incredible backstory to his main story. That's what's hooked me, it gives me TONS to think about. It kinda reminds me of the way I felt learning about history when I was a kid because there's so much mystery to it all.

The world he built is hiuuuuuuuuuuge. Layers upon layers. Its not shocking it takes awhile to make the next book. I really like that he was inspired by other authors who have no problem offing a main character. You really don't know who's going down next. One of his larger inspirations was lord of the rings and the gandolf death scene.....so another reason you can never be sure a character is gone until you see something sure

jon snow be back, the red lady wants him. this obvious to me. but I have been wrong before.
