IN YOUR HEAD
i am feeding it every 2 days as i have read thats best for them. i am just wondering average growth. it is currently around 12" or a little more.

I've never had one so I couldn't give you an answer from personal experience. However, doing a little research I am seeing that 1/2" per month when properly fed and cared for is ordinary.

Since you're feeding it like a normal eel, (not like some bro's force-fed eel) 1/2-3/4" a month is a pretty normal, healthy-seeming rate of mass conversion.
Those force-fed monsters can do 1-2" a month, but it's definitely not healthy for the fish.

alright thanx. it just pounded down 5 gutloaded rose reds (dead on the end of my feeding stick). i am not going to feed it live food (other then some snails witch it already helped itself to) but just the things on the end of the feeding tongs. so far it is roses, squid, octopus and shrimp/prawn.

Are rose reds freshwater? If so you should switch to marine feeder fish. With a healthy diet this fish should grow fairly quickly.

ya they are freshwater. i only have them for my gars that i am growing out. these were killed by the gar, but not eatten so instead of throwing them away i just gave them to the eel. i plan on getting some silversides for it and my grouper.

Silversides work, and you're already adding vitamins, which is good. I usually feed seafood counter stuff to my eels, it's much cheaper than the pet store.

right now i am using tongs/ a grabber since it just shoots out of its den to get the food i am leery of hand feeding. so far it has been the only fish that hasn't bitten me. that's out of everything i own. my picasso, that basturd, gets me just about every time i go in the tank for something. i love to hand feed so one day my snowflake will bite me.
