Personally, I think your old one looks weird. I like the new one much better.

Although genetics can alter coloring and the pattern of spotting slightly these jags are just at diffrent stages of adulthood. The old Jag is showing a fully matured adult male spotting. When i male Jag is reaching adulthood it loses its lateral dark line and has all spots. The New jag is eaither female or its a male that hasnt lost its lateral line yet but if its male it will eventually look like your old Male. GoodLuck...........

I'm not an expert or anything but I would guess that your old one is female and your new one is a male. I believe males develope a darker and denser pattern. I'm sure somebody else can say wether this is correct or not.

Also no two fish are the same just like people. They have their own personalilties, some are gonna be aholes while others will just be normal and some are passive. Jags however tend to lean towards the ahole side though (as in they normally are badass who will kill other tankmates that they don't like). So an aggressive fish would be more the norm than a passive Jag which would be rare.

Okay so I guess I'm bassakwards

Personally I think they are both nice looking fish. Just my .02

Well i will correct you and you are without a question wrong. Only males loose their lateral line where females will have a distinct dark line. As far as color is concerned i think the one below looks darker due to the poor quality of the older photo.
