a jag is a jag but this jag ant a jag!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I stand corrected:eek: Just out of curiosity though which fish is larger? IMO the new one looks much larger judging by the stockiness and the fins.

hehe probably wrong on that one too though :)

yeah I agree with you and REC I was backwards on that one. Should've double checked before I posted. Either way it's still an awesome fish. Is it killing your other fish? Or just harassing them?

Or by nicer do you mean nicer looking?

this jag (my old as in i dont have him no more) is nicer IMO than the jag i have now as in looks, this jag was a big pussy he lived with what ever i put with him, this jag i was thinking was about 9 inches but now i have this jag and he is 9inches im thinking the old jag was only about 6inches if.

this jag IMO is not as nice looking, NOT as nice to other fish he has killed 2 cons some of my mbuna and is now ripping up the little pim (he has a hide-away now)

so do we think the new big jag is a she?

yes and that really doesn't surprise me that she is killing convicts or mbuna. I would not try to keep a jag with any of those. A lot of people will say Jags are overhyped(about their aggressiveness) but the one I used to own killed every other fish in my tank. What size tank do you have and what other fish are you keeping in their?

the mbuna was in there as they never got moved, they 2x red zebeas @ 5inches a peace, and the cons about 3 inches a peace, now in with her is a marbled pim @ about 5inches and 4 pic cats... . . .

is the jag a she then???

your cats might be okay, has she shown any interst in beating them up too? as for your zebras it's really up to your Jag but I would do something else with them or they will probably end up like the convicts. If you have another tank you could try moving the Jag out rearanging and placing her back in to see if that brings down the aggression unless your Jag was already the last fish in there then that wouldn't help. I gotta leave work now though so I won't be replying soon again. If your jag seems like it wants to kill everything then I would get rid of it or seperate it

The differen't coloration of the fish may be do to sex, but I think it has more to do with the body of water the original fish were pulled out of.

Depending where the original strain came from, one may have been in a darker area hence the darker fish. The other fish may have come from a lighter area where it needed a lighter pattern.

Just my 2 cents.

the malawi's are not in there any more she seen to that, she was not chasing them or showing any think to them she was just doing her own thing, after the first night they had a few rips in there fins but with how she was to them i was thinking maby it was the pim, after the 2nd night she had gone throught the lot 2 x mbuna and 2 x cons, now she is giving the pim a hard time but going 4 him in the day time chasing and snapping (some times you can hear her snapping)

i had a look hear but none of the jags look like my old1?:
