I've been down this road bro,had an awsome Oreochromis Tanganyikae for a few years and it was about fifteen inches at it's time of death.I contacted a taxidermist, probably the only one in this town and after almost years wait for the finished product the thing was an abomination.Mine also had that stretched out look to it,I wanted to display it on a wall above my tanks but it is up on a shelf somewhere because I cant stand looking at it.janzal3;3208429; said:Believe it or not it was the one in my Avatar. When I saw it I almost walked out of the store and left it there. I probably should give it a decent burial.
I happen to know someone who wants to have this done after they pass on,and they are serious but of course I would'nt(cant speak for anyone else though). We have our different views on how we'd like to remember our beloved fish, obviously some dont see it as being disrespectful.T1KARMANN;3241406; said:you wouldn't send a old lady to a taxidermies would you
janzal3;3242520; said:I can understand why you might think this way. People who catch fish or kill animals for the sole reason of sticking it on their wall, as decor, to me is wrong. After all the time and money spent on feeders, I wanted a little something extra to remember it by. It didn't turn out so good. (Really bad actually). I should have sought references beforehand.
As far as comparing mounting a fish to stuffing Grandma (i wasn't going to say mounting again) That is like calling littering the same as murder. IMO
Regardless, I still enjoyed the response and appreciate your reply.
