Do you decorate your tanks to look like a natural waterway? Or unnaturally, with castles and tresure chests and stuff?
One tank of mine has a castle, but it's turned on its side to make a cave. It also has a fake plant and natural gray gravel.
My other has no gravel, a fake plant, and that decor that looks like two barrels, one upright and one on its side, as well as a hirizontal glass jar.
However, I've been thinking about ditching the castle for a rock pile, driftwood, and a real cave. Im keeping the barrels tho, they kinda look like my Minnows are living in a farm pond inhabited by humans.
Oh crap meant to make it a poll

i use natural 2mm gravel, real wood and real rocks, some real plants but these will never amount to anything as my uaru see to that and i use reptile plants that hang from a sucker at the top of the tank.

my first tank was a goofy looing tank with fake little statues and blue rocks and the ever so famous "no fishing" sign, i quickly got over that and sinc then have had all natural tanks plants, drfitwood, sand or natural gravel. i ony have one tank with blue gravel and it has nothing in it yet ;)

Best to just decorated your tanks to your liking. I pefer the natural look myself and I'm always redecorating. I have seem some nice looking themed tanks though, that would put alot of "natural" tanks to shame. One thing guarenteed if you like being flamed go without a background and rainbow colored background. You'll have tons of idiots telling you how bad you tank looks and what ya should do to make it better.

It's all in what you like to look at...
If you have Monster Cats, it won't matter anyway.
They will throw a party one night while you're sleeping.
When you get up and turn on the lights, all your hard work, aquascaping, will have been undone and look like the day after a big party...
Crappy part is, they don't even invite you...

I try to decorate mine as natural as possible to nearby Lake Erie. So I use lots of broken glass, needles, and plastic rings from six packs to add that extra "touch" to my aquascaping.

In all seriousness, yes I do prefer the natural look. I'm currently in the process of converting from fake plants to real plants. :nilly:

personally i try to stay all natural, using sand, drfitwood and rocks... the only fake item in my tanks are usually the plants and stuf

I prefer the natural look. However, when I set tanks up in my daughter's room it will have decorations that she likes. Those consist of Disney princesses and characters. I don't like it, but it will keep her interested and help mold her into a fish lover.
