a loaded question about decorating your tanks

I use natural items, such as rocks and driftwood... But I use the most practical shapes and stack them in the most practical ways... so in the end it's not realy all that "natural". Terra Cotta pots are very cheap and practical too but I try to only use them as needed for breeding pairs.

Here is a pic of one of my tanks as an example:

This is cut rock from a landscaping yard that is cut into brick like shapes and slate like shapes... I had to put the pot in this tank to give the female Trimac somewhere to hide from the male.

Edit/PS - Wow, I didn't realize how terrible that pic was when looking at the thumbnail before I posted it... sorry...

It's all in what you like to look at...
If you have Monster Cats, it won't matter anyway.
They will throw a party one night while you're sleeping.
When you get up and turn on the lights, all your hard work, aquascaping, will have been undone and look like the day after a big party...
Crappy part is, they don't even invite you...

LMAo ive been there

My new 55 gallon has natural looking gravel and a lot of fake plants but I plan on doing the whole slate cave thing so that kind of leaves me in the middle.:)

i only have one aquarium with a castle cuz i have so other things for the fish atm but i will this summer :D i love the natural look

I hate decors like castles.:p My tanks are simply black/white substrate, driftwoods, plants (in most tanks), smooth rocks and then pebbles.;)

I prefer the natural look but a barrel or flowerpot here and there does not hurt.I once covered half of the tank bottom with fake skulls after I read that some stretches of lakes in Africa is littered with them.I really cant get with the bare bottom tank look though.

natrual is the way to go imo i think the fish like it just as much as i do natrual can be very inexpensive to if you know what your lookin for

Natural for me. Only have fake plants in my oscar tank and I HATE them. Will have to find some real ones the silver dollars won't eat. Although the oscar is only little at the moment I guess he will 'aquascape' for me later :grinno:
