A. Lyonsi Spawning *LOAD WARNING*

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's a video of the tank they're in. Overcrowded yes (very), but no water quality issues due to the fact that this tank runs in line with a 180 and a 125. By the time this vid was taken most of their fry were removed and put in one of the 40 breeders below.

Lots of these fish are for sale BTW:naughty:

Wow, the pair spawned in that setup? I thought I overstocked! Congrats. Maybe I'll shove a few pounds of cichlid into my 100gL and see if my 6 lyonsi can finally get something started.

Wow flowerpower! I'm amazed! No need for shame. To me that is an anomaly that worked. Congrats!

I am a bit confused however, so how does your filtration system work? Is it some sort of central filtration system with piping that connects all tanks?

Again thank you for showing the long anticipated fish tank images!

Congrats!!! They do look nice...

No shame, I was being sarcastic. Despite the overcrowding I've got several fish spawning in that tank (as well as several that could be but aren't). Currently I have a pair of dempseys with eggs, a female steindachneri who's holding, and the lyonsi pair setting up again.
As for filtration, I have a mag drive pumping water up to the 180, an over flow box that siphons water down to the 150, another overflow to the 125, and a third that takes the water to a DIY media tower in a 30 gallon rubbermaid. To allow the overflows to work I had a custom double stand built that staggers the height of the 180 and 125 so that there is enough space between the top of the 180 and the top of the 150 and likewise for the 150 and the 125. 3 six foot tanks running on one pump and an AC 110. Relatively easy to clean with the sump being easily accessible and all. All I need to do now is install an automatic water changer.
