Don't african pike characin become too large? 60 cm. in wild is too much, isn't it? And the Pantodon will be kill and eat by the Polypterus palmas or the (eventually) stingrays, or not? Personally I find the Pantodon very interesting, but...

arowana is one of the best tankmate for polypterus species and eels.

go for the afrcan pike characin if you can find one also called the odoe

How about a gar (lepisostidae)? they are all around swimmers, and look very cool when relaxing at the top! ha!
