Marley, an Umbrella Cockatoo who is a former feather plucker after his previous owner left for 2 years and this bird was left alone..so he became neurotic and started plucking, he has since stopped and his feathers are growing back nicely, although there may still be some permanant bald spots

i saw marley in an ad on Petfinder.com from the "maspeth bird haven"(they rescue and adopt out birds) in queens, ny..after contacting them, and a visit to see him on tuesday.. marley is now in my care..and i couldn't more happy with him..he's a true clown..if we walk away from him, he mumbles "i love you" and waves with his feet if he see's any of us..a true character, and a sweetheart

anyway, he was born in '92, making him just around 15 years old.

if your wondering..he is named marley because of his love for bob marley music, LOL..he jumps up and down and attepts to sing along(even hits some notes perfectly)

here are some photos of him and his cage :)

and heres a video of him snacking on a piece of banana

wow 2 years alone? No food or anything? Whata survivor!

well not completely alone, the guy left him with his elderly parents who did not want the bird in the first place..so he was left in a small room in a medium sized cage with no toys, and got no attention, which is why he plucked,,he got food and water, but that was the only interaction with the people he had.

thanks!, they are wonderful birds..but require A LOT of time and comitment

yeah, i know they require alot of personal time and affection--i just cant give that much right now with my job but when i go to the petstore you can always find me scratching the necks of the baby cockatoos.. they are so loving and sweet.

Cockatoos scare the hell out of me.
