The top brace is cut from a single sheet of 3/4" ply that's been PL'd and screwed into place. Then there are 3 layers of resin and matting laminating it.

nice! looks very clean!

I love the uniqueness of this tank, but the glass bottom makes me nervous. The fiberglass looks like it was used just at adjoining surfaces and not under the glass edge. If it rests on a slightly higher run of resin it could have quite a bit more force exerted on it than the surrounding glass and risk a crack. Judging by the craftsmanship and your job, you won't have that issue. :headbang2

Build away, I can't wait to see this stocked!!

Now that's an interesting observation Kawi. It even made me think for a minute. Before I painted the epoxy on I ground all the fibreglass around that bottom edge to blend it down to the level of the wooden floor. The glass sits flat on the bottom of the tank.

I should have thought of it sooner, I found bulkheads today at the TSC. I went with two 1" for the drains and one 3/4" for the return as that's what my pump has.

I built the sump box today as well. I was going to go and buy a sheet of ply but instead I decided to use up the last of the 2x4's around here. Needless to say it's ridiculously overbuilt and very heavy but I ended up with about a 45 gallon sump. Oveer the weekend I'll laminate it and gelcoat.

Also yesterday I grabbed a mahogany stain at the Walymart while the wifey and I were out and started on the trim last night. It's a little dark but the varnish I have is an amber so I think it'll look fine when it's all finished.
