A nice find while canoing...

awsome find!!!! the only think i found was a garter snake in my yard:(
 
awesome find!!!!!! funny how some poeple are afraid of snakes. anything they might not know is automatically considered dangerous. lol anyways, awesome snake! keep the pics coming!
 
Being in AL, I know it's not venemous but I don't what species it is, either.

Looks like a species of rat/chicken snake.

Good find, either way.

I think most peoples reaction was because they weren't snake fans ophi lol. Cool find. Where exactly did you find it?
 
Nice find ophi. I'm with you, E. obsoleta and looks like a grey. Nice pattern too. I get mostly yellows down here; up north it was always black rats and they seemed to be thicker.

Well, I wouldn't go as far to say he was docile. He tried to bite me several times when I first picked him up. But I guess he quickly figured out I wasn't really hurting him, so he "indulged" us pink giants to get some pics before I set him loose.

He was found on the Escatapa river somewhere between SE Mississippi and SW Alabama. He had a few scars on him, but he was pretty healthy-looking besides that. If he had been a black, I might have kept him for a friend who works with blacks and likes pure localities.
