they sure do grow big in 3 years don't they. how big was he when you got it?

O's were my first ever fish (except goldfish). very personable and, not saying you are a beginner or anything, but they are a great fish for people who are new to keeping SA/CA cichlids. very easy to care for, they eat lots and grow nice and BIG!!

He was around 2-3 inches I suppose... I don't recall exactly, but I know he started out in a 10g and had plenty of room. You're right, they are good beginner fish generally speaking, however their eventual size does pose a problem for some beginners who aren't prepared to upgrade tank size.
 
yeah i agree. you do tend to see to often people with O's in inadequately sized tanks. however i, and i'm sure alot of other people, got the "fish bug" from keeping them, which led to 5 tanks, all getting bigger in size as i bought more :)
