Just picked this guy up from rapps a couple of days ago.. still acting like a drama queen laying on his side and such but hes is eating, that's always good. Was scratched up pretty good. Jeff said he put up a fight on the way out. Been doing daily wc and hes healing up nicely. He will be in the 55 with some giant danios until I get the 150. Feeding hikari soaked in boyds vita chem for now

There are only two recognized species of oscar, A. Ocellatus, the common tiger oscar and A. Crassipinnis. A. Orbicularis is considered to be a variation of A. Ocellatus.

Beautiful fish btw, they are going to be stunners for sure!

Looks to me that this guy is more of a crassipinnis than anything close to a ocellatus with the vertical stripes more like what you see in crassipinnis than that of the tiger oscar pattern in ocellatus

Ive owned these guys before.. these aint your grandmas oscar haha. They have the oscar traits such as being ravenous for food and some of the personality but they also seem to hold their own and are a bit more agressive than the domesticated O's.

Can you tell me anything in particular about them hes b eeing a little punk lol still really scared doing the floating on his side playing dead thing a little less but def not oscar attitude yet

Hes definitly coming around took 10 to 15 pellets right away. Even took one by hand. Very cool tank seams to be a little cloudy though.
