Ugh, mantis shrimp are pistol shrimp yeah? I had one of those lil' turds break a nano tank a while back.

FEF, you make me want to get a mantis shrimp!!! Is it possible to breed them captively? I know that when two of them are in one tank it can get pretty violent.

ive heard that its been done but I know not very often and with low turn over. They are easy to sex but finding a pair and bringing them together at the right time...is not easy and usually ends up in one injured mantis and one dead mantis...

plus you could really only breed already popular kinds like peacock as it would be near impossible to get a hold of a rare pair that would mate.
