i'm thinking of getting one actually. looking for a companion animal but dont think cats are that affectionate. another dog is out of the question. no rodents either. any suggestions?

what about a parrot or something? talks, lives a long time. they are like children i hear.
 
oh, the parrot thing reminds me. are toucans easy to raise as pets? there's one at a bird place around the corner, beautiful blue eyes, amazing beak, yellow-orange with flames on the upper half. and such glossy black plumage. other than that birds dont strike my fancy.
furred would be my preference.
no one thinks cats can get really close to their owners?

I love toucans!!! Any chance you could take some pictures of it?

One thing about toucs.....they bite like hell!!!! Those beaks are sharp and powerful. I found out the hard way.....
 
aaah. this guy's beak is beautiful but looks like it could snap one of my fingers clean off. lol that's what's making me hesitate. i'll try to get photos in the next few days, all the pet/fish shops are in one area, and i need some misc stuff. was gonna go down later today but i'll do it when i have the camera.
