A planted African tank?? The fishies don't think so!

Thanks, and welcome to MFK. As you can see there are lots of cool people here helping out even on small questions. Before you ask a question you may want to do a search on the subject. you may lots of good treads on that topic.
 
I will not be having a planted tank with THIS guy around. I should have known; those beady eyes, the down turned mouth. A PLANT EATER! He even was eating the distasteful onion plant. I did not have time to sit and watch the tank until tonight and found the guilty fish red-handed, (I mean red-finned) with his mouth full. I put the plants back in different tanks where the plants are decorations and not dessert. Isn't that why we here at MFK have so many tanks?!?!

I know that some of you got it to work. I just do not have the right kinds of fish to make it work; to many herbivores.
