thanks, I was feeling abit worried for awhile, because of the water quality which I could not controlled. There are 2 outdoor ponds on my backyard, the big one and the small one. And I do have filtration system running for the bigger pond but not on the smaller pond. It takes a while for the water to clear up previously after filling.
The pond is on the open area, and it gets direct sunlight during the day.
There are tadpoles, and some platy fishes in the pond, and I am wandering if bichirs also feed on plankton in the water.
As for the smaller pond, the one with no filtration; I also put some endlis in, and it is where my endlis got huge in awhile. I occasionally supply foods in the smaller pond, but not much. The water only circulates when it rains; and when I notice a lower water level in the pond, I add more water in. I live in a tropical country, so rains are more frequent within a year.
If you also live in a tropical country, I think you could do your own pond too, and it doesn't have to be big,
I'll post pics tomorrow,

cheers

what planktons? u mean the tiny critters in the pond? i saw mine ate a mosquito larva in my tank hhahah, garniac does your pond have linings beneath or is just plain earth below? coz im going for just a plain dugout just like with my neighbors here, but they dont hav bichirs just feeders:grinno:and probably no filtration either for mine, just gonna lush it with vegetation, yes i live in the tropics too, for sure you are living one of the asian countries like me. ill be waiting for the pictures youll post today bro.

Not sure about the plankton bro, its more like a very tiny organism that lives in the water. The pond uses concrete cements for the base. There were so many cracks happened before, so I had to water proof the entire base. I think the water pressure had caused it. I think plastic membranes could save you more. Where do you live bro?
I want it to have some RTCs in there, but I dont think the combination will work with bichirs.
here are the pics of the pond, not so much though..

these are the bigger pond

very nice:D

very cool pond u have garniac, the polli looks very happy with the pond, are the endlis in the small pond ok? its kinda overstocked with those floating plants, i see no feeders swimming in the pic hahah must be terrified of the polli making his rounds. i see its concrete based, yep using lining as base will cut cost, but im planning for a plain dug.out here bro, coz one of our lots in a swampy area, watertable is just so swallow for a dig.
by the way im from the philippines bro.

thanks bro, I got rid some of the plants on the smaller pond. So far all the endlis are doing fine. Its a good thing if your soil can sustain water on it self, just make sure that you got enough dept for the bichirs, having some rocks are good too. Maybe you could do some smaller mangrove branches just for their hiding spot. Who knows your bichirs may breed in there.
Good luck with the project, and post pics when you finish the pond,
cheers
