Sorry to hear man....I lost my poly three weeks ago. Also an unexplained death no other tank mates or water complications at all and had been seen eating regularly. Just came home after work and he was sitting on the bottom.

If your Bichir was wild-caught, it is possible that it could have had a parasite that you were not aware of. This is always a possibility when dealing with wild-caught animals in captivity.

I used to have a motoro sting and it stung one of my ornate but somehow the bichirs seems to immune to the sting and my sene will even chewed on the lose sting but lets it go after.

The only time I've seen my bichir doing a seizure was when it re-surface for air and somehow it failed to do it and when it when down it started doing a seizure and died after less than 10 seconds. It was doing fine before after the oxegen exchange, that was when the propblem happened to my bichirs.

have u ever heard of a poly having a seizure before they die? if so is it common in unexplained deaths? i just think its weird that it wen berserk 2 seconds before it died...
Yup I saw it happen a few years back. Totally healthy bichir in a quarantine tank probably 2 weeks in there perfect water and it started having a seizure and fell head first in to the bare bottom and was dead. I never figured that one out. I don't feed live and it was perfectly healthy from the two weeks after the purchase made no sense to me. It wasnt feeding or water change time it all just sort of happened. This was a delhezi my first :screwy:
