Oh Sure Im a Paddy :D
I was wondering what would be a good fish to go with and 9'' oscar in a 55 trigon tank?
Thanks in advance for the Info.

Hmm...not much. A 55 gallon tank is really too small for an oscar...especially if youre looking for something that needs to be as maintenance free as possible (which I assume the title of your thread is true and you want to set Granny up with a tank.) Id go with some smaller fish that way you can have more. Convicts, HRP, firemouths, sajicas etc...

Well its 200L which is big enough im Irish so we do Litres SO i probably said something wrong :).
The tank is set up she has had the Oscar for months now i can clean it whenever she wants me two. But Fire Mouths They Would Be Good Thanks a Million :)

i calculated 200L at just over 52 gallons....just to make sure you know, an adult oscar shouldn't be housed in anything smaller than a 75g [~285L].... i wouldn't add anything to that tank..

Trigons are 3 sided bow front corner tanks, they give better width dimensions than a standard 55 gals probably would be good enuff for a single oscar. I'm pretty sure the dimensions are approx. 31"x19"x20" - basically gives the Oscar a circle to swim in however proper filtration would be key.

Get the oscar OUT of the 55g tank
ESPECIALLY A TRIAGON!! he has absolutely no room.

a great present for her would be a 90g tank (at LEAST a 75g long)

Not trying to be rude.. but I have to tell the truth. My oscar has a 150g tank to himself and I guarentee he would freak if I put a second in there at this point

I dont think that a 31"x19"x20" tank is better than a 55 standard at all.

Neither is sufficient for an Oscar, especially if bi-weekly 30-50% water changes will not be done. Thats a tiny amount of space for the waste & uneaten food to be broken down into.

"basically gives the Oscar a circle to swim" So a keeper that thinks a jail cell is ok for a fish?

"however proper filtration would be key" Filtration can be upgraded on any tank, whereas volume can't!! So "filtration" isn't the key at all..

IMO obviously...

And others I expect
