Those are Bufo marinus, the cane toad, if I rember right if you tried that with a spade foot you would end up with a foul taste in your mouth and possibly your tongue glued to your lips, they aren't very toxic but their secretions make a pretty good glue. Try explaning that one at the er.

i c, I dont know if you guys noticed but I love my Oscars so much and I dont know what would I do if one or both of them died. However I m tier of spending money on them, it is becaming very expensive as they grow bigger and bigger. So thats y I tought that if I could catch those lil frogs by my house I would save some money. Now not to be dumb or anything I cant tell d difference between one species of frogs, the ones I c every day are brown looking and they all small and could easily fit in my Oscars mouth.

Ahh feed the thing some frogs they'd eat them in the wild... :frog: Do it Dude :headbang2

The easiest way is to make a quick stop at your local public library and check out a field guide to amphibians for your region of the country. take it with you and go catch a couple of frogs. Use the guide to look up the type. If it is a frog then okay, a toad then not okay. Take a good look at them for any obvious sign of disease then take a good look at the water they are coming from for signs of pollution or run off from an orchard, golf course, etc., as those tend to use a lot of pesticides. I wouldn't bother to quarantine them unless you want to spend more money feeding the frogs than you do on your fish. Just give them a 5-10 minute dip in a salt water bath made by adding 4-5 teaspoons of salt per gallon of water, much stronger than an ich treatment. Try one with your fish and wait a day before feeding more. You should be fine. I know that a lot of people will disagree with my method or even live feeding at all but it has worked for me with no problems. I have fed a lot of frogs to a lot of fish over the years.

them oscars would be lg mouth bass in that they would eat most anything that would fit in their mouths... like was menitoned just be careful where ya collect those frogs to make sure they are not bringing in any sort of pesticide

hey , from what i know, if u wanna feed your oscar frogs, rem to wash them thoroughly b4 feeding it to your fish...

thats what i always do when feeding my luohan fish which has since been given away to my relative.

hope i can be of help..

Mine eat frogs no problems so far. Actually my jewels are more inclined to eat frogs and lizards. I usually just rinse them in the tap to get any nastyness off. Great treats

You should know that Oscars can not adequately digest mammal meat, (mice, beef, etc). Their livers can not handle it, and they will end up dying from a disease of the liver.

should be fine as long as were you got the frog wasnt polluted..i would see if your lfs can get them in for you just to be sure...that they are healthy.......
