I have a big fresh tank and a large marine tank and I have a spare 29g Biocube laying around so I was considering giving brackish a go.

Which brackish species could live in a 29g for life? I'm not familiar with brackish species and so I would require a lil help in this category.

Also, how would you go about decorating? I know live rock isn't going to work in brackish conditions, so would I decorate is if it were a fresh tank with driftwood?

I also would assume cycling is much more like freshwater than marine.

well i kinda like the hatchet fish but you have to have a cover for these guys because they like to jump out of the tank hope this helps

oh i search it the website i found it on doesn't know what they are talking about thanks

Probably not the best thing to offer advice on something you aren't experienced with. ;)

Puffers are very personable fish! In my opinion a single figure eight puffer fsih should work very well and if enough hiding places are provided you may even get away with two. As far as decoration goes, you can try going with the "reef" look, creating plenty of hiding places using tufa rock or other similar kind of material. Salinity should be around 1.005 and powerful filteration is highly recommended to take care of the massive ammont of waste produced by the species.
Alternatively you may also go with dwarf puffers which are another interesting species, which stay small, are peaceable and go with a more "planted" look for the aquarium.
Heres a useful link:

Just a small note of caution here, dwarf puffers are freshwater fish for most part, which can tolerate small increase in aquarium salinity but will really only do well in freshwater conditions.
Aletrantively you may also opt for Indian Dwarf Mudskippers. They remain fairly small and are very interesting species if you are able to cater to their unique keeping requirements.I am positive there is a thread on this website about these fascinating fish.

DPs are strictly FW fish. I killed my 1st 2 by thinking otherwise.

Thank you for your input Pufferpunk! :)
I did specify that... "Just a small note of caution here, dwarf puffers are freshwater fish for most part, which can tolerate small increase in aquarium salinity but will really only do well in freshwater conditions."
I have seen them being kept in very low end brackish water aquaria with other fish which are generally freshwater species but can and do tolerate a very small amount of salinity.
Incidently,I do remember reading one of your articles when I was new to the hobby in The Concientious Aquarist online magazine titled "Green Spotted Puppies....Oops Puffers" which led me to acquire and keep many species of these fascinating fish.
Thank you,
Javed Jameer Ahmed. :)
