Same family as the stormii catfish but grows much bigger and definitely more colorful, pretty much a gold catfish swimming. These guys are like bull shark where they can be fresh and salt. These guys travel from Indonesia to Australia.

Hemiarius dioctes, a rare golden cat fish that can grow to 48” and go between freshwater and saltwater, fascinating.. I wonder if vincentwugwg vincentwugwg has heard of them.
Here’s something from fish base on them.https://www.fishbase.de/summary/Hemiarius-dioctes.html

Is that your fish, where did you get it from?

I seriously love these fish and are my dream fish (Besides AUL). Is this a PNG local or AUS? They can grow bigger than 48 inches! I'd say closer to 58!
Huge mouths when adults.

Love to see the unusual. What does anyone know about its health and longevity in full f/w? My intuition tells me they won't last long but I'd like to be wrong.

Can live in full f/w for a full lifespan. They are a bit like the opposite of bull sharks, in that f/w is home, but they can go into salt. Most freshwater fishes from the Sahul Shelf can tolerate a decent amount of salt.

Awesome catfish!

Has anyone before you imported these, like Wesley Wong maybe? Are they expensive to bring it? It looks sizeable in your photos. Almost emaciated but hopefully you'll have no problem beefing it up.
