In florida its birch-er. So I say it that way. And if I get a funny look, then its poly-puh-tur-iss. (2 "s" ) Like a snake hiss without H.

Then if I get another funny look I say, "Never mind I'll find it myself"

I always thought it was bye-chur....then i started saying biker but im still not sure which way was right.....lol...
 
i dont know why people say birchir. there's nor first "R" there.
 
theres also no k in bichir (last time i checked ch makes a chuhh sound, like cheese, checkers, chicks, ect) :grinno:
 
it comes from french african, so ch "sh" in sound but whn trans into inglish it come towsghughurawgh3ri

Though i say it as 'bee - ch'r', I think the 'ch' is sometimes pronounced by others as 'k' because of...
