In florida its birch-er. So I say it that way. And if I get a funny look, then its poly-puh-tur-iss. (2 "s" ) Like a snake hiss without H.

Then if I get another funny look I say, "Never mind I'll find it myself"

We say it either puh-lep-ter-us or poly-tare-us, and its either birch-er or just plain *****-er, but i think people just really wanna be able to say it like that.
