I think this will blow "you old folks" minds. This is what my generation listens to lol. My request is that you listen to at least one song - any of them from the album "whole lotta red" by playboi carti. - very popular among my generation. Come back here and tell us what you think!

Im well into my 40s but still listen to all types of music, old and new but more older stuff as I age.
I just listened to the song "Rockstar Made", I didnt dislike it but doubt I will go out of my way to listen to it again.
I liked his croaky voice but the whole song was a bit repetitive for me, saying "never too much" constantly got a bit boring, I guess im not really the target audience for this guys music anyway. I did like the background beats/music a bit, at least it sounded a bit different to what I normally hear on the radio.
Its not really classic hip hop, for me if im in the rap mood i go for beastie boys, NWA or grandmaster flash for the true classic stuff, mainly 80s/early 90s. Do you guys consider this Playboi Cardi to be rap/hip hop or a different genre of music all together?
So there you go, a mid 40s guys opinion. It didnt blow my mind but it kept me interested enough to listen to the whole song, thanks for giving me something to talk to my teenage nieces about when I next see them. Who knows, maybe it will blow their minds that I know about this guy!

i would say the reason he is mostly famous is his beats, as well as his "baby voice" which he didn't use in this song. He is considered to be hiphop.

Actually, anew hip hop song I have been listening to a bit lately is called "Public Enemy Number Won" by Public Enemy, feat. Run DMC and Beastie boys.
Its a remake of one of their old songs from the 80s, you should check that one out KATALEKEEPER KATALEKEEPER and see what I mean by classic hip hop. These dudes have taken a 35 year old song, updated it for 2020 but it still sounds "old school" as you youngsters are fond of saying.

This new album by him is not very popular. I do actually like some of playboi cartis songs. I would suggest listening to "shoota" by him, his most popular song and my favorite.

tell me what you think when you listen to it!

53 year old here reporting back. You're right, it did blow my mind....and almost my ear drums too! I forgot to turn the volume down on my tablet after listening to football on my headphones earlier, lol.

Truth? Utter rubbish, not for me. Though I can sort of understand why that type of music would attract you young uncultured types.

Now i've listened to your earache, you listen to a tune for me. It's called "the first picture of you" by a band called "the lotus eaters". If you compare yours with mine, you'll see that we are light years apart on music tastes.

And to be honest, I think I win.

Okay, the 40-something guy says it's okay...

And the 50-something guy says it's garbage...

Ready for the 60-something guy's view? Okay...well...if you had included a link that I could click on to hear something...I likely still wouldn't bother...

But...you think I am going to find it myself? :lol3::duh::headshake
