According to Stalsberg, `Aequidens` sp."Silversaum" is the orginal Green Terror. Read more about `Aequidens` sp. "Silversaum" on Alf's webpage http://www.lem.net/alf/aeq.htm#s%F8lvs%F8m

Alot of people use Rapp's website where it says A. Rivulatus is the true GT, but this might not be the case. So all of that "It's not a GT, it's a Silversaum!" business might be over. :D

I knew this already though but good read and spread the word. A true A. Rivulatus has not been imported to the states in over 15 years due to drug trafficing from various places from south and central america. Rapps does not have true unless he had caught them himself in the damn river lol. My sisters boyfriends mother lives in Ecquador and she sent me pics of some of the fish she's got in her river and she sent me one of a True Rivulatus. I was in amazement. I wish I transfered the files from my old comp to the new one otherwise I would show you.

It looks more like a local and misidentification problem to me but until I see a bit more proof than one opinion I'll reserve judgment.

Cichlid-Forums also has the sp. 'Silversaum' labeled as a true Green Terror, with more links to back up the claim that A. Rivulatus isn't the true GT.

Suffice it to say, who gives a damn which is called true and which is false. They're all common names. Even scientific names are a constrict imposed by humans on nature, which isn't so cut and dried.

I'm happy to say I own rare and unusal terrors not seen in the hobby.

I don't know what fish Cross127 is talking about, but all 3 "species" are in the hobby right now.

Jeff imported some of the 'true' ones back in the summer of 2004. He charged a pretty penny for them and now there are some F1 and F2's available... someone on this forum is/was selling some recently.

To my knowledge, someone in florida has bred this 'true' terrors from Jeff Rapps a few years back. It never really got popular or available till someone start selling them in the fish forums. It is all about the hypes.

Mine are F1 from a trio Tom Lorenz (the guy selling on the cichlid forums)picked up from Jeff in 2004, who is also the "guy" balton is talking about.

Note that Tom calls them "true" green terrors. NOT "true" A. rivulatus.

We have 8 of those f1's as well. They are growing like weeds and doing great. 4 of them our outpacing the others so we might have an equil mix of sexes.
