A rookie planted tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your lighting is fine. You can probably even grow some of the high light plants. You can grow almost all plants with low light, but they grow slower. Lower light also slows them down and intake of nutrients and CO2 is lower as a result. The think you can't do with high light plants with low lights is get them to turn red/pink (like some of those plants need intense lights to get those colors). I have grown many plants under low lighting.

Thanks. It's refreshing to hear someone telling me that my lighting is fine rather than that I need to double or triple it. As I said earlier. I have managed to grow some medium-light plants pretty easily. The tiger lotus is doing wonderful and has a nice deep red to it. I tried a cryptocorne and it basically melted in my tank. This was probably my fault because I didn't know that they don't like to be moved around so I kept re-planting it... oops lol. Maybe I could give it another try.
