So i got a call from the guy i ordered my RBP from and they told me that the official's from the UAE said that they are not allowed here and that they would not issue me a license or permit to keep one, which sucks cause i did loads of follow up and speaking to people about bringing them in and at first they all said it was fine just difficult.

The only fish they bringing in is the Pacu Piranha, so i am well gutted and my next question is what alternatives can i look into that are similar to keeping a Piranha in terms of schooling, looks, behavior etc....

I am sorry to hear that whoever you dont loose hope, thereis always a chance....just have to wait.

I dont see why P's aren't allowed at the UAE Dont think they could be taken as an invasive spicies, i mean, I dont really know your country but i guess it is not full of rivers it is?.

Thats the thing i am not sure about the other emirates but i know that Abu Dhabi is basically just got sea around it and any little bits of water are all from the sea like little canals if you want to call it that and the rest is just desert.

Yeah they probably scared they will eat all the camels :ROFL:

Yes I consider this law is quite foolish.....if it is "any law regardin piranha keeping". If you know what I mean.

There is the possibility that guy told you that to keep you from being bothering him asking for something he just doesn't sell.....

If I where you I'd keep looking for them an well as getting informed.
 
Sorry to hear you couldn't get the fish you want, especially after being told you could. Currently I live one state above the US piranha ban, but there is the constant fear it will one day expand. Were I live our winters should kill them, and so there shouldn't be problem. But, common sense rarely has any impact in laws, and the word piranha is frightening much more so then say feral pig. Good luck in your efforts to get your aquarium the way you want it.
 
exodons are pretty sweet if you have a large school.

if you can get snakeheads there go for them!!
 
Hello all again :) I have some good news i just hope it turns out to be good news :nilly: Anyway i spoke to a fellow MFK Member Dubaipond who lives in Dubai and he has been really cool he has found 4 6" Piranhas, he will speak to the guy sometime to find out exactly which ones they are and let me know.

So thanks to Dubaipond my dream could finally come true :headbang2
