Today was water change day so I made a few videos. Here's one of the 150 gallon in my living room. It's used primarily as a grow-out tank for young adult fish. Currently it houses:

- 2 Orinoco Heros severus (pair)
- 1 wild female Heros notatus
- 2 F1 male Heros notatus (from the wild female in the video and the wild male in my avatar)
- 4 Acaronia nassa
- 5 Krobia guianensis
- 1 rhino pleco

The Krobia are only about 3 - 4" but I have two pairs out of the five in this tank. The severus are also about to spawn again. Things are about to get hectic!

Peaceful is a relative term, I guess. There's always chasing and fighting.

As you can see, I'm not much for decorating or aquascaping.

Loving the acara love!!! :headbang2

The Krobia have good finnage so I'm guessing their fighting is mostly bluff?

It's not so bad in the 150 because they have room to get away from each other. Up until yesterday, I had a pair in a 55 gallon with two unpaired females, and the poor females really took a beating from the paired female. She harasses her male a bit too, but other than an occasional split fin here and there, I haven't seen much trouble. The actual pairs are pretty gentle with each other compared to my Krobia xinguensis, who were brutal to one another and never actually spawned.

Out of the eight Krobia guianensis I've grown out, I have three spawning pairs and two single females. I hope some folks here want to try their hand at a pair of Krobia because I don't have room for three pairs. lol.

My poor female notatus... as you can see in the video, she looks a bit rough. She even appears to have a bit of HITH which is odd, because I've had her about two years and there's never been an issue. The only change I made was separating her from the male. She still eats and is the dominant severum in the tank, but she's not like her old self. Maybe all those months and months of spawning every 10 days has just worn her out.

The nassa love Hikari pellets. Now and then I use frozen foods but they're more picky with those. They also love severus fry...

Two of the Krobia pairs have taken up spawning sites about 10" apart. That means flaring and threatening all day. I was trying to film it, but as you'll see, a nosy severus gets in the way.
