Is this possible? I'm not trying to breed them but I'm asking because recently I've seen them swim together real close around the tank. The other day I saw them swimming so close their sides were touching as if they were actually attempting to mate.

Now, my Gar spends its time within the stems of a plant near the bottom, until which it had always remained at the top with the Arowana. Can it even work? Or are they just confused?

Here's some pictures of them. The Hujeta Gar is at 5" and the Silver Arowana is at about 7.5".

Dont mean to steal the topic but can a Silver Aro and a Jardini crossbreed with each other?

well if they are that small and they could crossbreed to begin with(they cant) they are to small to be sexually mature.

No but they were swimming in real close proximity, as if they were mating - Scale to scale touching. Idk, I know it's impossible but I just thought it was weird that they'd do that out of the blue.

It's just fish with same genus who can crossbreed. Eks. all Xiphophorus (platy, swordtale etc.) kan crossbredd(exept X.signum).
